So I work for a chemical company in the United States. No connections to a University Engineering department as far as I know. My former colleague was very good with hardware and software and unfortunately is unreachable now. He built this application and related hardware to test chemical reactions  in the lab. No one else in the company has knowledge of LabVIEW as far as I know (but I could be wrong).  I will make inquiries though.

BTW I did find the Measurement and Automation program and ran in to capture settings so that when the time comes it will hopefully be easier to get up and running. I also figured out the version of LabVIEW we are curently running is 8.5.1.

I am still somewhat confused as to why NI declined to help me decide what I needed to purchase to get this program installed on a new laptop. I figured they would give me a quote, offer me a support option, and then I could purchase this and I would be on my way. Apparently this isn't the case.

Well to be honest there is no way for NI to know what (settings, drivers, etc. besides the LabVIEW runtime) your compiled LabVIEW program needs to run if you do not have all of the source code.

What I would do is installing the proper LabVIEW runtime and NI-VISA (if it is communicating with an instrument) then just copy the directory the executable is in to the new computer.

Then try to run it, it might work, it might not and hopefully it will throw an error message.

The error should point you in the direction you need to make it work.

NI outsourced their sales to their distributors somewhat recently so you might have better luck with them:

There's 5 listed in the US, and I think the "online only" ones might be just for hardware (not sure, haven't contacted them).  For the remainder I'm not sure if they're divided by region or another way.

I'm guessing that these companies, who likely get commissions, would be more motivated to help you find what you need to buy,
