How do you overlay video with x,y points corresponding to the video as the video runs

I am doing a project in which I analyzed videos of a simulated knee joint using a computer program and found the x,y coordinates of the path of one of the knee surfaces on the other. I want to be able to run the video and have the coordinates plotted as the video runs. How should I go about doing this?

How are you displaying the video: vision display, picture control, activeX container?  There are many methods to do this depending on the approach.
