How is VISA resource name & COMport name mapping done?

DOH!

I looked for that exact property longer than I care to admit...

Thanks!

Looks like you've found the solution to this question, but here's a tip for LabVIEW 8.0 and later:

  1. Wire your VISA I/O control to a property node.
  2. Right-click the part of the property node where you select a specific property.
  3. Choose "Select property...".  This launches a modal form of the "Class Browser" (new in 8.0).
  4. The class "Instr" should already be selected.  Click the magnifying glass near the upper-right to search.
  5. Type some complete or partial search keywords.  For example, I typed in (without the quotes) "res nam".
  6. Check it out, the property you were looking for is one of just two matches.

Since it is only showing you properties for the "Instr" VI Server class, even searching for "name" yields only a managable six results.

You can also access the Class Browser in a non-modal mode and select which VI server class you want by pressing CTRL-SHIFT-B or accessing it from the View menu in LabVIEW.  This can help when you're not sure if something is a property or method, or which class it falls under.
