How to Acquire in RAM

Dear Users,
i need some suggestion about a project i should work on.
I've a Firewire videocamera and i need to acquire images throught it.
I specially need to select a specific area fo an image and then the program should do the same to all
the images that follows. These images should be loaded in RAM first to make the acquisition faster and then
saved on the HD.
Any suggestion for me since i'm a newbie.

I've Labview 7.1 with Device Driver and NI Vision installed on my machine and i guess here where i work
they have licenses for almost all NI's products.

First, you need to make sure you have NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 Cameras Driver installed. This is a payed driver and it is needed to be able to grab images coming in from a Firewire Camera.

Provided all the software you need is installed and running, I suggest you take a look at all the examples you can find in LV under Help>>Find Examples...

i looked at the link you suggested....
and also read the documentation of my Firewire Camera (Hamamatsu C8484 05G)
The think that i really need to do is to acquire image as fast as possible
The limits specificated on the Camera documents says that i could be able to acquire about 40 fps at a 8X8 Binning
but i never had that results using the software like MAX or the camera software (wasabi).
SO i would try to write some code in Labview to achieve this feature.
I dont Need to look at pics in real time....the important thing is to acquire very fastly, i wont mind then how much time the storing will take.

Dear NI Forum Users,
i've some updates about the project i'm working on.
First of all let me tell you the NI softwares i've on computer:
-Labview 7.1 Professional development system
-Device Driver reference cd
-NI Vision Development Module

Then i've installed the DCAMAPI for my Firewire VIdeocamera (www.dcamapi.com)

and last i've installed the DCAM-SDK cd for the labview Library of the Videocamera i'm working with.

Now i would like to recieve more information about how to setup a Vi that allow me to do a fast acquisition (around 30 fps) in the RAM....
and just then to store the frames on the HD.

Hi,
i've tried to acquire using this two programs but the acquisition its pretty slow
I can reach about 4 or 5 fps and this is pretty slow for my needs.
Dont you have any suggestions that could help me to reach faster speeds.
