I perused through all 3 CLD exam sample answers from NI, and all the answers make their own elapsed timer. Like below
Not wanting to waste any time making my own elapsed timer vi during the hectic CLD exam. I am thinking why not just use the Elapsed Time express vi...?
The Elapsed Time express vi is in reentrant execution mode though, I need to untick that reentrant mode, and change the express vi icon to my own black and white crappy custom made icon.
I read the CLD style requirement here http://ftp.ni.com/evaluation/certification/cld/cld_exam_prep_guide_english.pdf
it seems like I can run away doing this, it feels a bit like cheating though...what you think?

I don't see it as cheating at all. I often start with LV examples (esp. DAQmx) and modify them to my own purpose in the name of speedy coding.
AFAIK, if it comes built into NI LabVIEW itself, it's certainly fair game to use in any NI testing.
