If you know what everything does it should not take too long. It is all about solving the problem. If you can write down what the problem is and think through how you would solve it. I think that it would not take more that 15 to 20 minutes. You can use tools if you are not a natural problem solver or if it is a very complex problem. Some people use flow diagrams to help solve this kind of problem.

If you do not know what everythig is that I used then it would take longer. I think it still comes down to understanding the tools that you have avaliable and how to use them.

Then the next step is learning how to use then well.
