what's the reason for your decision to wire the references to a BuildArray and then trying to send those references using a FIFO, which has been configured to transfer integer data?

In the AppNote you linked to they clearly show how to use the data output of the FPGA IO nodes: do you understand what you are doing there? Do you even think about what you are doing there?
