I'm having trouble installing my NI packages on our new windows 11 machines. We are currently switching from windows 10 to windows 11 due to microsoft not supporting windows 10 anymore for our company.
In that process I'm currently trying to install runtime and NI-IMAQ so we agian can run our executables in our prodution. However during the installation process after installing NI-IMAQ I'm asked to reboot the PC and after the PC turn's on it shows up with a startup error saying "Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart" where it then tries agian and fails endlessly.
I can reformat the PC and try agian and that way can determ that it conistenly happens after the NI-IMAQ installation even if I swich the PC or the version I'm trying to install. I though it was a version issue as we run on old 2017 version for our code but even if I keep to the windows 11 supported versions (https://www.ni.com/en/shop/software-portfolio/ni-product-compatibility-for-microsoft-windows-11.html) it still happens.
Any good ideas on what to try next? I have reported it to NI
The process:
1. Install package manager from: https://www.ni.com/en/support/downloads/software-products/download.package-manager.html#322516
2. Install through PM a runtime (I have tried both 2017 and 2021 version)
3. Reboot of PC per request
4. Install through PM NI-IMAQ (I have tried both version 19.0 and 2022 Q3)
5. Reboot of PC per request
6. Error

You seem to have installed two different versions of LabVIEW (2017 and 2019). You also seem to have installed two different versions of IMAQ (19.0 and 2022 Q3).
Some questions:
Recommendation:
Decide on one Version of LabVIEW to install (let's say LabVIEW 2019 SP1, 32-bit, which is what I have installed). Use that to install LabVIEW, VAS, VDM, IMAQdx, and other things that you need. See if MAX now sees a WebCam when plugged in (or simply "present" if you are using a laptop --MAX does see my WebCam).

Thanks for the reply, but I think I might not have explained it correctly as I think you misunderstund it. I have tried mulitple times først with Runtime 2017 version mixed with NI-IMAQ 19.0 on two sepperate windows 11 machines with both resulted in bricking the PC. The reason for these version is that it was what was previous installed on the PC before formatting and update to windows 11.
After my first couple of tries I then read up on which versions should be windows 11 compatible and installed Runtime 2021 and NI-IMAQ 2022 Q3 (both of which should be compatble) and got the same results.
Answers to your questions:
I have attached a picture of what the PC looks like after it tries to reboot after intallation. I am also in contact with NI service which are refering to this solutution: https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA03q0000019l42CAA&l=da-DK but as I don't install PXI I can't see the connection

Answers to your questions:
- I'm installing 32-bit runtime as the builds I make is in LabVIEW 2017 32-bit.
- I'm just trying to install what was previously installed. To my knowledge it should be fine to mix but for my next try I will try out only installing 2023 versions
- Yes, we take pictures and save them as part of our process

The link that you have is not only for PXI, but for PC's as general.
There are 2 options:
1. Go into your bios of you PC and see if you can disable Intel Virtualization Technology for Direct I/O (Intel VT or VT-d)
2. It is the PXI Platform services that is making problem for you. That is per default being installed when you install a NI driver. Try to see if you can deselect that when you install IMAQ.

Are you %100 certain that the camera has a driver that works on Windows 11?
And, for clarification, that PC is not "Bricked!" A Brick does absolutely nothing and cannot be made to work by any means so it might as well be "Float Tested"
<Sea Story >
I actually was required to authorize a Float Test procedure back in the US Navy. Something like:
"From a height approximately equall to the freeboard, drop Unit overboard. Observe and record buoyancy.

You mis-understood my third question (probably because I didn't state it clearly). I should have asked "What Camera (enough description that I can find its specs on the Web). My "guess" is you are using a "modern" camera that connects via USB (or possibly TCP/IP Cat 5/6 cable), which is much more likely to require IMAQdx, not IMAQ.
Can you clarify?

Hi
I would take another approach to this investigation.
You obviously have a computer hardware issue. The chosen new computer may be unfit for this purpose. But how to investigate this ..
I would create a clone of the current computer's partition and restore it to the new computer. Windows will itself fix unknown drivers and such. My preferred clone tool is Acronis ( 2021 ).
If the new computer boots then the problem must be related to Windows 10 versus 11. I find it unlikely.
If the new computer does not boot then I would look for another brand/type of new computer ..

I just did a Web search for LabVIEW and Windows 11 compatibility. The compatibilities that are listed are mostly LabVIEW 2022 (and later).
I'm still curious about the camera you plan to use, and whether you are installing the correct Camera Driver (you keep saying "IMAQ", but I'm still thinking "IMAQdx"). Note that this doesn't mean I'm right, but I am "curious" ...

Thank you for the different replies, I will try to give some aswers to the questions aswell as maybe a solution.
Regard the questions asked.
- It is the IMAQdx package I am installing and have trouble with.
- We use external cameras which is why we need the module.
- Before installation this time I tried launching the windows camera app to see if it was a driver issue there, but no problem there.
- The PC is soft bricked, meaning it cannot launch on its own without going into endless reboot but we can reformat it to get it running agian.
- I have tried with multiple different PC's with same results which rules out any hardware issue.
- I have in my latest tries only tried installing IMAQdx 2023 Q1 to rule out any compatibilite problems.
I have been in contact with NI support aswell and here they have asked me to follow the steps of this Blue Screen of Death After Installing NI Software which is also prevouisly noted in this tread.
After installation I canceled the reboot and followed the steps in removing PXI which is installed as part of IMAQdx as dkfire also metioned.
This removes the nipcibrd.sys which apparently is the problem because after a succesful uninstall of PXI I can reboot with no trouble.
I have asked NI about what can be done when installing windows 11 to not have this problem in hopes that I don't need to worry about installing packages and needing to check if PXI is installed and removing it agian. I will update this thread when they answer.
