You can certainly accomplish what you are trying to do as long as you implement some coding/LabVIEW algorithm. It involves some simple tricks. Attached is a crude vi that shows how you could change colors in a Boolean and accomplish a dimming effect while keeping boolean ON/OFF functionality. You simply have to play with boolean colors. Once again, you will need to do some further coding to accomplish what you're wanting to do. You can even do this with XY graphs and I'm guessing that it may even look smoother/nicer with some mathematical tricks.
(By the way, Instead of using an array of booleans to create an equalizer effect, you'd have to do a combination of clusters+arrays as all elements in an array would get updated with same colors but cluster elements can have their individual colors.)
