Issue Adding CompactRIO Support in NI MAX - "There is no software to add"

image_2024-02-14_102828803.png

I am facing a problem when attempting to add software to my RIO using NI MAX. I encounter the message "There is no software to add" both when trying to add software and navigating to the "Install" section. Specifically, I am trying to install CompactRIO support. Any assistance on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Some questions:

  • What version of LabVIEW are you running?  [I hope you say "LabVIEW 2019 (32-bit)" (or LabVIEW 2019 SP1)].
  • What version of the myRIO Software Toolkit have you installed?  [I expect you'll say "What's that?"].
  • When your computer is running and you plug in the (powered) myRIO to a USB port on your PC, do you hear the familiar "USB sound"?  Does the myRIO USB Monitor pop up asking what you want to do with the myRIO (whose Serial Number it should show to you)?  [I suspect the answer to the second question is "No").
  • When you open MAX with the myRIO powered up and attached, does it show up under "Remote Systems", listing the serial number of the attached myRIO?  [I suspect the answer is "No"].

If (as some have sung) "The Word is No", then you need to download and install the LabVIEW 2019 version of the myRIO Software Toolkit.  You may need additional modules to take full advantage of the myRIO hardware.

It shows 2024Q1 in the image. That is almost certainly to new and there is no myRIO support at this time for this version. You need to wait for the myRIO driver support for LabVIEW 2024 (which in the last years could easily take up a few months to even over a year after the according LabVIEW release).

Or as Bob tells you, you can download and install an older version of LabVIEW which does have proper myRIO driver support installers.

There is no myRIO support for any newer LV versions than 2021 SP1.

Installing for that version is a breeze.

You may look here :

So you need 'LabVIEW myRIO Toolkit', and the newest version is this :

NI may release a new version at some point. They keep this odd remark in the Readme for the Software Platform Bundle 2023 Q1 :

Why have the '1' mark, if there will never be a new Add-on ?

NI keeps the suspense high, by not publisling a similar Readme for neither the 2023 Q3 nor the 2024 Q1 version.

One oddity with the 2021 version is this option :

One will of course select the '2021' environment.

But when should/could one of the other versions be selected ?

The myRIO environment does not support anything but the '2021'.

Regards

Hello, I found the solution. I formatted the MyRIO card, upgraded the firmware, and removed the NI Linux RT System Image 2024. Then, I installed the NI Linux RT System Image 2022, which is compatible with LabVIEW 2021 and MyRIO bundle 2021. After that, I was able to install the CompactRIO software. Thank you for your help.
