Kurtosis query

Hi. I am using Acoustic Emissions to monitor bearing health and I am calculating kurtosis. I am using the method in the attached jpg however a literature search suggests a maximum value of about 50 however Iam getting values of about 500. Does anyone see anything wrong/unusual with this. Thanks a lot.
