LV main window: Always on the desktop

Hi,

Is there any chance that the main LV window (below) can be always present at the desktop?

in a word, No.

In one way the only things you miss are the "Pinned" selections and the RSS scrawl.  Recient lists and Create xxx.are available from the File Menu.  If you really want the RSS feed there are other RSS scrawl providers.  Pinned selection are available from the the LabVIEW.ini file so you could "Roll your own" to get that too if you could not live without it.  Otherwise, There might be an idea echange submission in there somewhere.Smiley Wink

You can also open it at any point from the menus (View>>Getting Started Window), although presumably, once you do something, it closes again. I'm assuming that should be good enough for you.

eh, I am confused of why you have this idea.

This is just a startup page. After this, you can also create new vi/project etc by using the main menu

Vincent,

I had to do the same, quick operation on the batch of VIs (around 60).

Each time I closed VI the Getting Started window appeared.

I've found it very annoying.

 That is the reason.

Well that's a different animal!  Tools>>Options>>Environment... check "Skip getting started window on launch"

Yes, but when I close all VIs the getting started window appear again.

I'd rather want this window to be always visible of always not visible; or instead of this getting started VI window I'd preffer to have a window placed in top of the screen something similar as text-based environments have

Hmmm,  There is an odd behavior that has been rarely observed where a blank VI automatically pop-ed up when the GSW closed so,  A modification COULD be made to the GSW code to open a new blank vi instead of the GSW.

That would be a possible Idea Exchange submission.  This Feature (as I said before) does not exist today

If you start a new project and then work on your VI's it wont happens, as it'll consider it project work. 🙂
