The community edition is officially a 1 year license. We are now coming up on the time period where the earliest downloaders installed it about a year ago. I don't know what the procedure will be whether the license will automatically renew on the expiration date, or whether you might need to go into your NI.com account and click a button or something to acknowledge your agreement to do another year.
Hopefully someone from NI will join this thread and give insight into what the process is.
