What’s the significance of that no LabVIEW idea seems to be “In Development” ?

I have my fears …

I believe that may be  caused by the leadership transition to Emerson.

It means two things:

- NI/Emerson still needs to decide/define what will remain from old NI. LabVIEW has one of the higher chances to not go away entirely, but in which form and incarnation it will survive is probably still unclear to the powers at the top, who decide what gets a budget allocated and what not.

- The Idea Exchange is more or less an unused feature since quite some time. It pretty much lost most of its allure when NI focused full steam on NXG and declined most ideas on the base that it was or will be available in NXG. With the demise of NXG there was a brief initiative to identify such declined ideas, but not much has come from this since, although you could of course consider the 2023Q3 Zoom feature as one of the longest standing requests being implemented. My opinion about that feature always has been: Määh! Yes 4K monitors with 18"or less are nowadays possible and it is horrible to do anything on them with most applications. Solution for me is to buy monitors that have a reasonable resolution/size ratio. 400 dpi for a monitor simply is not reasonable. But most people screaming for zoom were usually complaining about not being able to look at their 10000 pixel long diagram in one screen! And a LabVIEW diagram of that size simply is unusable. If someone can't be bothered to use subVIs, they may better go back to Basic programming!

Yes I agree wholeheartedly, the zoom feature I certainly could have been without.

That's not my understanding at all, but people using 1440p or 2160p monitors (like me). Zoom out isn't of much use, but the ability to zoom in is quite helpful, especially when connecting a 6446 pattern on a 4k monitor ...

Some people would say you have two problems right there. 😁

A 4k monitor with less than 36" diagonal may be nice for watching your Netflix movies, but is definitely NOT a computer monitor anymore.

Whatever the decision would be, it would be nice if Emerson could remove any cloud of doubt, like a plaster. Don't hesitate; just rip it off.

… and having the need to zoom in LabVIEW, is like having the wrong font size in a textual environment and don’t know how to change it. 😅

And besides, with the bitmapped graphics in a VI the zoom implementation is horrific.

Hint: If you feel the need to zoom, consider your choice of monitor or buy new glasses.

Ranting can be fun sometimes … 😊

I just noticed that they have created a NEW suite, with a significant LOWER price compared to the previous "Test and Workflow", they called it "Labview+", it is 18% cheaper , now sitting at 4,4k per user per year.

There is still the cringe thing of NO DISCOUNT if you commit for 2 or even 3 years, its very cringe and smelly.

Imagine those who committed into 3 years lock of subscription into "test workflow" suite, now they have a net LOSS.

Good job Emerson managers!

G# defaults to 6446 since 4 are reserved for ref in/out and error in/out. Many new laptops have 4k monitors, imagine a 15" 4k with LV!
