Labview 8.6.1 crashing when opening certain VI's on windows XP SP3

Hello, we're running Labview 8.6.1f1 on a windows XP Pro SP3 machine. When opening certain (user created) VI's, Labview crashes with the standard windows runtime error:

"LabVIEW 8.6.1f1 Development System has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."

The same VI worked on 8.2, prior to upgrading to 8.6. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks

What do the VIs do? Are they using any specific toolkit? Do they have things like ActiveX or .NET containers? Complicated graphs? Complicated stuctures? You're not giving much information to work with other than "this used to work, now it doesn't."

Hi,

How are you opening the file?  If you try to open it from within LabVIEW (open>>VI) or use Select a VI...(from the block diagram) do you see the same performance?  Do other VI's in LV 8.6.1 work properly?

Also, do you anything about how the VI was saved in 8.2 (with or without a block diagram and or front panel are both options)?  If you still have that version, are you able to load it 8.2?

Finally, are you using Windows XP 32 bit or 64 bit?  LabVIEW is not supported on 64 bit XP, and this may be the cause of the issue.  While it may install due to the similarity of the OS, we cannot guarantee its performance.

Cheers,
