Missing File When Installing Software on the Target

Dear everyone,

I was installing Real-Time software on the target (a desktop computer) through MAX. An error happens (the following description contains translation from Chinese into English 😞

  "NI-GenericDesktopPC-2F139C04(169.254.203.151):

   can not find the file.

   local file: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\RT Images\NI-PAL\2.7.1\nipalchs.err

   remote file: /ni-rt/system/errors/chineses/nipal.err"

But I fail to find the file from the indicated path. In fact this is my second time to install these software to the same desktop target. The last time everything was fine. Recently the motherboard of the target was broken and we replaced it with another one, so we have to repeat the installation but meet this problem.

Can anyone give some suggestion or help? Thanks in advance.

Su

I'm not sure but I think NI-PAL is a DAQ related driver. Assumed DAQ isn't used on your target, try to install the LV-RT OS (Pharlab) without the DAQ driver.

Hope it helps

NI-PAL is a fundamental component in almost all of the driver software for NI.  Have you verified that the original location exists:

    • C:\Program Files\National Instruments\RT Images\NI-PAL\2.7.1\nipalchs.err

Basically MAX follows a set of scripts to copy specific files from the host PC to the target system, in this case it's copying the file nipalchs.err from the host PC and calling it nipal.err in the /ni-rt/system/errors/chineses/ path.  If something happened to the files on the host PC (got corrupted, which caused files to become bad or deleted) then the script to copy this file will "break" and cause the error.

Dear Christian,

You are right that the missing file is related to the DAQ driver. We have found the original file to be lost so we have to reinstall the software on the host computer.

Thank you for your help and best wishes,

Dear Danny,

We have found the original file to be lost so we have to reinstall the softwares on the host computer. After we installed DAQmx the NI-PAL fold appeared under the indicated path.

Thank you for your help and best wishes,
