Modbus Ethernet

You can go to automationdirect.com/cmore but the communication is simply Modicon Modbus. Please see my original post for attachments of how the CMore is set up. It's Modbus addressing, TCP/IP set up.
Thanks,
Teri

Are you using a crossover ethernet cable to connect directly to the pc from the Cmore?? Or do you have a switch/hub in between with straight thru cables. See page 1-13.

http://web2.automationdirect.com/static/manuals/eauserm/ch1.pdf

See page 5-32,33 for testing plc communication.

After reading the modbus info again, the CMORE panel should be the master and initiate all of the communication. The PXI unit should act like a modbus slave.

The first thing i would recomend is get it talking outside of labview thru something like modscan just to verify you have the connectivity.

I finally got it all to work! I had an address setting in the CMore set incorrectly...stupid, but it happens, usually to me! I was going back and forth in the Automation Direct forum, trying free modbus simulators and one gentlemen had me painstakingly go through all my settings. I probably wouldn't have caught it for awhile since I'm constantly being pulled in different directions! We all know how that is.

Thanks to all for the help.

Remeber, you may need to verify the register offset to ensure you are reading the right register.  For example the equipment documentation may list register 4000 as a certain value but when LV reads it with a setting of 4000 you may be reading 3999 or 4001 ( I get it confused).

Thanks Tim, I'll keep that in mind. Now on to my next problem...reading CAN messages into the PXI system using a hand-held device...I got stuck on that the other day. Hopefully I'm doing something just as stupid as the the last problem!

If at all possible could you show an example of communicating between labview and CMore?

Read and write to and from.

Thanks

Is there any way you could post an VI on how you connected to cmore screen with labview? Thank you.

The thread is more than 15 years old and you queried it already 4 years ago with no reaction.
