NI-MAX & NI-DAQmx version compatibility

I have a system using Labview 8.5 and NI-MAX 4.4.1, and has been working fine.

I recently had to add NI-DAQmx to support a new project. So I downloaded NI-DAQmx 8.9.1 from the web.

Unfortunately, NI-MAX doesn't acknowledge the NI-DAQmx.

I checked the configuration of a similar system nearby, and it was the same with the exception that it had NI-DAQ 8.6.1 installed.

1) Is NI-DAQmx 8.9.1 too new to work in my system?

2) If so, how the heck do I get it uninstalled? (8.6.1 refuses, saying that a newer version is present).

You need to install MAX 4.5 to work with NI-DAQmx 8.9.  http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/EE0FB9EB80AE148686257336006CED22

NI-DAQmx will work just fine with LV 8.5  http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/97D574BB1D1EEC918625708100596848
