NI MAX not showing imaq driver as option for Firewire camera. Win 7 32 bit

Hello,

I am trying to get a firewire camera working in labview on Win 7, 32bit.

The problem (see screenshot), is that windows is not allowing me to use IMAQdx to run a firewire camera. I have the latest VAS, MAX installed, but as you can see from the image, there is no option for me to select IMAQdx as the driver for the firewire camera.

This is strange, because the camera is recognized (cam0 in the image), and IMAQdx seems to have installed correctly.

The system is Win 7, 32bit.

I have run into a similiar problem. What I did is to strip out the UNI-Brain drivers completely. I let the Microsoft fire wire driver tak over. For what ever reason, the microsoft driver seems to work the best.

If you are using windows xp, there is a hack that allows you to have firewire running at 400. It is not possible to get it to run at the 800.

Duplicate thread.  Posting in forum is sufficient.

Thank you!

How exactly did you strip out the UNI-Brain Drivers, just from control panel?

Also - a surprising update. I seem to have some functionality without setting the right driver. In LabView, I can initialize and grab using the IMAQdx VI's. Sadly, there is a new problem. The attributes like sharpness, brightness or gamma are no-where to be seen.

Do you have any more insight?

I just used the control panel. If you look at your unibrain setup, you have the option to use the unibrain driver or the microsoft doft driver. You can try to use that first and see if that works for you.

Those problems could potentialy disappear after yu get rid of the unibrain driver.

Thank you for putting me on the right track.

The key was to set the firewire port drivers to be generic windows drivers, not the unibrain ones.
