NI Motion 18.0 missing from NI MAX V 2022 Q3

Hi everyone,

After looking through the other discussion entries, I was wondering if someone could please help with the following issue:

I have installed NI Motion but it does not appear as a drop-down option in NI Max as it is shown in the documentation.

All the drivers are the latest versions straight from the NI site.

I've tried re-installing NI Motion and importing the 7000 series configuration files.

Hardware:

PXIe-1073

PXI-7340

UMI-7772

Kollmorgen P7000 series stepper driver

Thanks for any advice/direction.

That's a good question.  I went to set up my LabVIEW for a motion control job and it looks like NI no longer supports NI-Motion.  I can't find any official mention of that though.  The last available version is 2018 and it doesn't seem to be compatible with later LabVIEWs.  I'm still running LV2019 but decided not to revert and just picked a Newport PicoMotor solution instead.

If anyone has information about NI-Motion's fate, please let us know...

All their motion cards have reached obsolescence hence the last version of NI Motion is 2018.

Hi guys,

Don't really want make a sales pitch in the forum, but, I think we have a good solution for you.

As you know, NI-Motion has been discontinued since 2018.  This leaves LabVIEW users who need motion control in a really tough spot, as you are forced to use other motion solutions that may or may not work well with LabVIEW.

We basically remade NI-Motion, using our own embedded controller.  For our LabVIEW driver VIs, we mimicked the previous NI-Motion VIs, so you just need to replace your old motion VIs with our motion VIs, it's a 1:1 replacement for our motion controller.  Our solution works with any LabVIEW above 2015.  We also have Express VIs for motion, to make things even easier.

About myself: I worked for NI for 15 years, and motion control was my specialty. My linkedin profile.

There's an unaddressed gap for motion control with LabVIEW, and we hope to serve this gap.  For more info: https://geco-lv.com/geco-motion.html or PM me for details.
