NI9472 module has 8 outputs, Default NI-DAQmx Counter Terminals ONLY 4?

Hello,

the NI9472 module has 8 outputs.

However, my colleague can only configure four of them in the software:

https://www.ni.com/docs/de-DE/bundle/ni-daqmx/page/ni-9472.html

What is going wrong here?

Greetings Lars

There's nothing wrong here!

The spec shows you can use 4 CTRout signals and your colleague is able to use those 4 CTRout…

The NI9472 allows for 8 (rather static) DO signals or upto 4 CTRout signals according to the spec.

GerdW

Do you have a link to the specification?
We want to control Siemens semiconductor contactors with the card in order to be able to control heating circuits.
Actually via pulse width modulation (PWR).
Is CTRout even correct then?
Or is it possible to use all 8 DO?

How often/fast do you want to switch the DOs?

Which PWM frequency and duty cycles?

Like this?

In your first message you linked to a page showing exactly 4 counter channels for the NI9472…

So you want to switch 10ms ON and 990ms OFF when you define a frequency of 1Hz?

Which chassis do you use with the NI9472 plugged in?

There often is a limit of available counters due to the (cDAQ) chassis. With a cRIO you could employ the FPGA to handle each of the 8 DOs according to your own requirement!

We are using a NI cDAQ-9189.

Hi Lars,

and there is the spec for cDAQ9189: it mentions exactly 4 "general purpose counters"!
