Restore Ctrl + mouse wheel function in Labview 2023 Q3

Solved!
Go to solution

Zooming on the block diagram like it's a document is a neat gimmick, but I need the Ctrl + mouse wheel command to do what it's supposed to do (browsing through structure cases/frames). I didn't find any GUI setting for that, but surely there's an ini flag, right...?

It's now Ctrl+shift+wheel to scroll cases

Which is "okay", except for those of us who have different versions of LabVIEW on their computer.

Fine, more pinky abuse... 🙄

Is there really no secret ini file setting to make it work like before as a courtesy for old and stubborn people?

To my knowledge there is no way to change the new Ctrl+Scroll and Ctrl+Shift+Scroll mappings in LabVIEW 2023 Q3.

As an old and stubborn person myself, I'm trying to keep an open mind on this one... other IDEs have standardized on Ctrl+Scroll being a Zoom gesture, so the LabVIEW R&D team decided to adhere to the standard for Zoom, which unfortunately meant also changing the existing frame scrolling mechanism. In my limited use of LabVIEW 2023 Q3 I have also struggled with this change, particularly since I tend to use multiple LabVIEW versions even in the course of a single day. But looking to the long-term I do think they made the right decision. Despite the fact that it will take us some getting used to.

It's going to be hard to get used to until I dump ALL my previous versions of LabVIEW and use ONLY LV 2023 Q3.  I'm on the fence about "right choice" though.  There are good arguments either way.

Yeah, i have several also, but you quickly realize which one you should use once you start using ctrl+scroll. 🙂

It's like changing key bindings in SC2

When the code comes rushing at you like you're the incredible shrinking man, you know you're in LV 2023 Q3.

Add myself to the list of the aggrieved.

I definitely get using the universal standard of ctrl+wheel for zoom.  But, I'd like the option to turn off zoom and revert to the old way.  Or at the very least be able to switch the bindings.

Same here... maybe one day I'll want to zoom my BD, but today is not that day.
