Running code without hardware connected?

Looks like Denis beat me to the punch - but to get to where he is, right click on Devices and Interfaces and then select Simulated NI-DAQmx Device... to get the same screen.  As you can see, the E-series card you are using should be there.

I verified that NI-DAQmx 8.3 was selected when installing from the driver discs.

I see NI-DAQmx when expanding the software listing.

When selecting Devices and Interfaces I do not see NI-DAQmx Devices, only PXI Systems (Unidentified) and Serial & Parallel.

When I right-click on Devices and Interfaces and create new I see the window below.  NI-DAQmx devices is a listing but it's not like the one Dennis posted.

Am I missing something?

I found it, I hadn't selected the simulated device from the list I posted.  Why are all these other devices listed even though I don't have any of them connected?

(RTSI cable, NI-DAQmx SCXI Chassis, NI-DAQmx SCC Connector Block, NI-DAQmx TEDS interface, etc) ?

They are listed because they are all devices that you might have to manually create instead of automatically being detected. For example, you might decide to use a very old DAQ device that is not plug and play compatible.
