Hi guys
We produce circuit boards for a customer and now I got this request:
- Attach a label containing barcode, on the circuit board
- Scan the bar code and translate it into HEX
- Program this HEX string into a 32-bit ALU through a USB cable
I have a few questions:
1. Can I use VISA read/write to do this? How can I detect the 32-bit ALU in LabVIEW? Does the ALU needs to be programmed in a certain way so LabVIEW can detect it?
2. I only got LabVIEW 2010 SP1 Base Development System. Will this be enough? Or would I need other software/hardware modules? Like FPGA etc.
I usually communicate with circuit boards over RS-232 through a COM-port. My guess is that when I connect this circuit board through USB, windows will try to install a driver. And I would need a driver in LabVIEW to be able to communicate with the circuit board.
PS! i think I forgot to mention that the ALU is mounted on the circuit board with the bar code. I also found some forumposts describing ARM and SDK, but this ALU will be pre-programmed. I only need to communicate with it.
Regards,
Even
