Separate heart beat and respiration rate

Hi,

I'm working on data I acquiered from a piezoelectric sensor, using my NI6008. So basically what I want to do is to post process the data to get information on the respiration rate and the heart beating. But I don't know how to separate the heart beating and the respiration rate. With a low pass filter, I easily obtain my respiration rate and I can see the wave corresponding. But how can I extract the heart beating then ? I currently use a bandpass filter. The result is obtain like on the photo attached. We can see 3 major big waves corresponding to the respiration rate, and other several wavelet corresponding to the heart beating. The idea would be to follow the average curve (the respiration rate) and then extract the heart beating.

Any idea how to do that ?

I usually prefer to have both a respiration rate and a heartbeat at the same time.(Sorry- but really, what would my life be like without them both?)
