Speedy 33 and Vista

To Whom It May Concern,

Th last time I taught the Infinity Project Pre-Engineering class was spring 2008 and, this summer, my lab computers were updated.  The IT person made the decision to go to Vista. My suggestion would have been to stay with XP and/or purchase Windows 7 when it came out a month and a half later. However, they did not ask me. Now that I am teaching the class again, my speedy 33s are not working. Evidently, the driver comparability issue was not checked when the IT people set up the new computers. I am under a time pressure now because I was unaware of the problem  until the students started going through the setup procedures in Chapter 1. I also see there is a move by Infinity to Labview (which I like since I am also the USFirst robotics advisor). However, I see there is a blog message from 2008 saying NI has no plans to release a Vista version of Labview. So, I seem to be stuck. What needs to happen to allow me to use the VABs in my Infinity class? Obviously, this is a major issue for the class. Evidently, this will also be an issue after tomorrow's USFirst kickoff when my students are trying to install the new Labview version to go with this year's competition.

Thank you for any assistance

Dale

Hi Dale,

LabVIEW is definitely compatible with Vista, and the DSP Module version 2.5 is as well (though DSP 1.0 was not). You shouldn't have any problems using LabVIEW with the SPEEDY-33's or with the FIRST competition, however I don't believe VAB is going to work on Vista. Are you having any problems with LabVIEW or just VAB? Which version of LabVIEW and the DSP Module are you using?
