Transparent not available in properties dialog box?

Hello all.  Can anyone comment on why the transparency selection is not available for a button in its properties dialog box.  (e.g., right click:propeties:choose color for on/off state) I can choose to make a state transparent using the paint brush tool on the front panel, and when I right click and go into properties a 'T' indicates a transparent state, but in the properties dialog box, when you choose to select a color, there is no transparency option.  In its place is an 'X' to exit the color selection dialog.  (Please see attached image.)

The problem for me is when I have a button that is not very large, that has text in it, and I want to make one of the states tranparent,  using the paint brush it is sometimes hard to select the button, and not the text background color.  I always resort to blowing up the button, making it transparent, then shrinking it back down.  I am still a 7.1 user.  If it has since changed, I guess this is somewhat irrelevant.  Its also irrelevant if I am missing something.

Thanks,

Greg

I've always been able to make a button transparent.

Can you attach a VI containing your button so we can play around with it?

Thanks, I appreciate the indulgence.  I know I must sound like just another ultrabeginner who can't make a button invisible.

I believe that what you are seeing is a limitation in LabVIEW 7.1. When you open your VI in 8.x, then the Properties dialog for the button has the "T" box available.

Yes, it's been fixed in newer versions. At the moment you have to use your workaround (resize).

Okay.  Thanks both for the replies.
