Did you try the link in the previous post?  It should be there I think.

However when I was searching for the ConsumeBefore vi on my computer I found it here: 

C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MAX\Assistants\IOScriptor.llb

I'll attach the vi (in Labview 7.0).  Hopefully this helps....

What GPS unit do you have? This is likely going to be very specific to the model that you have. You may have to contact the manufacturer for this DLL to access the USB GPS device.

I'm bumping this too.  What do I need to install to get the ConsumeBefore.vi?

I've installed IIOA with no luck, and http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2197  tells me it's installed with the GPIB device drivers so I installed ni488227.exe and that didn't work either

What version of LabVIEW are you using? What version of the IIOA did you install? Here is a KnowledgeBase that might help you find the VIs it's looking for. Here's a link to the latest version I could to download from the Drivers and Updates page.

Its been a few years since your posting and I was wondering if you have found a solution.  I am needing to communicate with a Garmin GPS18x USB antenna.

VPEA....I've used GPSGate to get USB GPS devices to work.  I've used that with the Garmin GPS18 as well.  It creates a virtual serial port for you to use.  They have a trial period that you can try out as well as a free version with limited features that may suit your needs so you don't have to pay for the full license. 

It particularly works well with Garmin products I've found, but I've used it with non-Garmin products, and regular serial port GPS connections as well.  There may be other products that do similar things, but I've used that for a while now and found it to work great (for my needs).  The documents on their site should help you set it up. 

I then use the virtual ports GPS creates in my Labview program and other mapping software as needed.

I have heard of GPSGate before but was hoping to not have to purchase it even for the long term use.  Are you aware of any free ware that does the same thing?

This page shows the differences between the paid and free versions.  Like I said in the other post, that might be enough to do what you need it to do.  I haven't used the free version, as I purchased a license several years ago now.  I don't think the free version was an option then.  Looking at that list, I might have only used some of the "paid" features once or twice, particuarly using the virtual port as an input.  I think that paying for it once has been worth it in my case though, as much as I "hate" paying for things sometimes.

I don't know anything off hand that really does what GPSGate does, especially in converting the Garmin format to NMEA format to work with the Labview vi's that I use.  I know there are other general virtual serial port programs out there, but GPSGate works well with the Garmin devices we've used, particularly since we not only use it with LV, but Mapsource at the same time. 

Again, all of that is just in my experience using GPSGate.  There may be other things out there, Google might produce other options.
