Unable to locate myRIO Toolkit

I have completed the software download for Labview myRIO Software Bundle. It claims to have installed everything successfully, and I had no issues with activating licenses. When I attempt to connect myRIO and set it up, I receive a software error message stating "Ensure that the Labview myRIO Toolkit is properly installed on your computer and try again". From this error message, I was told to open NI Max, click remote systems, and under NI myRIO device right click software, and then select add/remove software. From here you log in and select Linux RT System Image 2022 Q3. I did all of this. Then it took me to a screen for which software I would be added. myRIO Toolkit does not appear here, however, it does appear as if downloaded when I open NI Package Manager. Why do I continue to see this error message if myRIO Toolkit is supposedly downloaded? Also, if it is downloaded, where could I find it in order to use it or fix my error message?

So I assume you downloaded version 2021 SP1.

That version is unfinished work in my opinion. It offers you the choice of four versions of the RT System Image. But that is misleading.

Only one version works. And that is the version with the same version number as LabVIEW itself.

So ignore the 2019, 2020 and 2022 Q3 System Image versions. They don't work with myRIO Toolkit and LabVIEW 2021 SP1.

NI has never made any statement about this situation, meaning I haven't seen any, so the above is based on my experience.

I have installed several versions of the myRIO Software Toolkit, and the myRIO Software Toolkit 2021 was, by far, the most difficult to install.  I was only able to install it after consultation with the help of the developers (at NI) of this toolkit.  I wrote up a method that I posted on the Academic Products Forum here.  

Basically, my problem was that I was installing it (in 2021) on PCs on which I'd already installed LabVIEW 2021, and assumed that the myRIO Software Toolkit 2021 only had the "extra" features (such as LabVIEW Real-Time, FPGA support, cRIO drivers, and Additional Features special for the myRIO) that was required for getting the 2021 version of the Toolkit to run.

This was not correct.  One of the reasons for the year-long delay in releasing this Toolkit (it was released the same day as the first release of LabVIEW 2022) was that it required some "new features" that were missing in LabVIEW 2021.

As I describe in the article, the solution that worked was to "work backwards".

1. Uninstall all NI software (including NIPM).
2. Install the myRIO Software Toolkit 2021 (which requires NIPM -- hopefully the 2024 version doesn't break things ...).
3. Install any other LabVIEW 2021 features that you want and need.
4. Install any earlier versions of LabVIEW that you want and need.

The project I was doing that I wanted to use with the latest version of the myRIO Software Toolkit is on temporary hold, so I haven't tried building a new system in over a year, and don't know if this method still works (though I certainly hope it does!).

Yes, the issue was a mismatching of years. I used 2021 for each portion and now it works perfectly. Thank you!
