This assignment is designed to work on a set of sampled data from a thickness sensor. The samples are stored in an appropriate array of up to 100 elements. The values represent the depth of the insulation around a particular cable. The thickness can vary from 0- 4 mm represented by a corresponding real value stored in the array. As long as the depth is between 1 and 4 mm the cable falls within the allowable specification however if it falls below 1 mm it is deemed to be too thin.
Specification 1 (60%)
To design a VI that will identify the number of thin values and display as a percentage of the total number of samples.
The front panel must have the following:
An array of controls holding the sampled values.
An indicator holding the percentage of thin values.
Specification 2 (80%)
Thin values tend to appear as sections or patches along the length of the cable i.e. values of less than 1 mm stored in successive array elements. To design a VI that will meet specification 1 and will also calculate the number of these thin patches. The front panel will now have an extra indicator to display the number of patches.
Specification 3 (100%)
To design a VI that will meet Specification 2 and will also be capable of detecting and displaying the start index and the length (number of successive elements less than 1 mm) of each thin patch.
Hint: Look at Array indicators.
A report that fully documents the operation of your software, explaining clearly how each section works.
A working copy of the software submitted with the report on a CD in Version 8.5 or less.
You may be asked to demonstrate your software and attend a viva in the weeks following the submission of your work.

Of course it is.
What have you done yet ? What can we do for you ?
Nothing. Not give him the answer.
What is preventing you from reaching your goals ?
Not trying.
As soon as I see an effot I will lend a hand.

There is no need to embarrass this person. Just make it clear that this forum is not here to complete homework. If this user wants help, then s/he must try and post what was tried and explain what trouble is being had.

My response was not intended to embarrass the poster, but rather to indicate that these forum are not a place to get your assignment done for you without you showing even an ounce of effort. We see this ALL THE TIME, and frankly we're tired of it. So forgive me if I get a little acerbic with these "URGENT HELP NEEDED!!!!" posts.

At least once every year

Yeah, I've moderated boards with people doing this. But it doesn't matter if it happens all the time, that is irrelevant. What is relevant, is that we deal with this in a firm but courteous manner and not degrade the forum.
On the last board I was on, we had a spiel that we cut an pasted which reference to a thread that is stuck to the top of the forum. That thread reiterated that we do not do people's HW for them and if they need help, they are welcome to it but MUST try to do the problem FIRST! Then they can post their code and explain what the problems they were experiencing. We would then NOT rewrite the code for them, but address their problems, point out other trivial problems (i.e. not initialising vars) and show potential solutions to said problems.
If nothing constructive is to be said by a user, then that user is to keep quiet.
This policy helped keep crap coming in to a minimum.

I personally don't like being dictated to.

This was not a dictatorship, this was a consensious of the moderators on the board. And I'm not telling you what to do, but I am suggesting some alternatives of what can be done to keep distractions away, allow new users not to feel threated and allow this group to grow by keeping users from not dumping LV ASAP.
