Use LABVIEW Write data to Microsoft Excel

Solved!
Go to solution

When use Write Delimited Spreadsheet VI (Owning Palette: File I/O VIs and Functions) to write 2D array data to a .xls file, there is something wrong.

Open this .xls file through Microsoft Excel software and recieve the prompt as attachment, the file will be opened if click "Yes" and the content is right.

What causes this prompt and how to slove it?

Hi Sandra,

As has been often written here in this forum: a "spreadsheet file" is not the same as a "XLS" (or XLS*) file!

A spreadsheet file is a simple text file, containing data in CSV (or similar) formatting.

A XLS file is a file in a proprietary Microsoft format, readable by a software called MS-Excel…

The cause is Microsoft: their software isn't able to detect the CSV formatting in your file because it just depends on the file suffix.

Solution: rename your file to Spreadsheet.csv
