VISA resource name

Usually, under the diferent computers in between programming and operating,
I have had a problem to find some right RS-232 ports in a program where mutiple ports are used.
How can you recognize the right port mapping?

I got to know I can edit the VISA resource name in LV from someone's program.
How to map between real VISA port (RS-232) and user defined string?

Can  this be helpful to find the port in different computers?

I think you can use MAX to map every port in your PC  to a string name.
but you may not know the relaitionship between the ports and string names from someone's programme

labmaster,

Thank you for contacting National Instruments.

I have collected multiple resources that I think will help you in your situation.

Please reference previous Discussion Forums: How is VISA resource name & COMport name mapping done? and Changing VISA resource names for controls to custom formats.

There are also many KnowledgeBase articles that have the information you are interested in: Why Do Aliased and Non-Aliased Names Appear Together in the Visa Resource Name Constant?, Find VISA Resource Name Programmatically, Programmatically Retrieving VISA Resource Names in LabVIEW, and How Can I Get Rid of Unaliased Names in a VISA Resource Name Control?

I hope these are able to answer your questions and also give you additional information.

Thank you and hope you have a great day.
