What does "resource not found" mean when loading VI?

I can't seem to open a .vi file. It says:
"Resource not found.
An error occurred loading VI 'dio_trigger_example.vi'.
LabVIEW load error code 8: Could not load VI resource."

I have LabVIEW 5.0 - do I need a newer version, or is the file not working? It is for digital IO using the DAQCard-6533. I was given this file by a NI technician....

Why don't you attach the VI? Where did it come from? Is this the first time you tried to open it or is this an error you just started getting?

I saved this VI (normally, without any notifications). And tried to open a few minutes later. After I failed to open it, I tried to do it on another computer - but with the same result.

It seems I can't attach this VI here because "The attachment file size is too large. The maximum file size is: 5,120,000 bytes", and mine is a bit more than 6 mb...

That is huge for a VI. Sounds like it got corrupted. Restore from a backup.

Yeah, of course I did, but still. Restoring from the backup means that a few hours of intensive coding was wasted... So, restoring from the backup is definitely a solution but it doesn't solve the problem itself - why LabVIEW (2011) corrupted VI and didn't save it properly?
