Where is the "Network Variable Engine"?

Hey Marc,

Since the OP didn't repost after my first response I assumed he had LabVIEW Real-Time 2010 (no SP1) which is only compatible with NI RIO 3.5.1.

The version compatibility for our drivers can always be found in the Readme file of that driver. There are also Knowledge base articles with complied lists.

The one for NI-RIO can be found  here.

There should be a solution for 2010, in Luka's case it just made sense to upgrade, as he had been meaning to, and it would solve his problem.

As for your case, what software are you unable to install on your cRIO?

Just as a note: You may want to consider a force reinstall in the future, instead of unistalling and reinstalling to guarantee that the installer replaces all of the files on your computer.

Hopefully we can get you figured out,

Thanks to both of you for the responses. I think this must be a version compatibility issue; I was using LV2010 + RT + FPGA, initially with the RIO 12.0 drivers (installed in the prescribed order) as I believed the RIO 12.0 drivers were compatible with LV2010, but as you've pointed out this is limited to the SP1 version.

Once I realised that I tried removing all RIO 12.0 features using the installation disc and installing RIO 3.5.1, but I'm not able to install any of the Recommended Software Sets as they're marked as 'Incompatible with software already installed on this machine'. Unfortunately there's no indication what that software is. Maybe a force install would work... I'll keep it bookmarked for the future.

Since that didn't work I tried installing SP1 for Labview and reinstalling the RIO 12.0 drivers, on which I can install the Recommended Software Sets. This is the point at which I posted before - the "Full Install" is greyed out with the same missing features as the initial post of this thread.

One thing I hadn't realised until after posting is that there are SP1 versions of the RT & FPGA modules as well, so I'm trying to get my hands on a copy of those, then I'll try again.

Hey Marc,

You are correct, the module version and version of LabVIEW will need to match.

Once you do get those modules installed you may have to repair the NI-RIO driver one more time if you're still having trouble.

It sounds like you're on the right track. Let us know if you're still having trouble.

Brilliant, after installing the SP1 versions of the RT & FPGA modules I'm finally able to install the full software set on my cRIO. Thanks for the help! Robot Happy
