Wind turbine instrumentation

Hi, I am doing a project on the topic Instrumentation system for wind turbines. It is just the simulation part. I want to monitor the signals such as wind speed, voltage, torque, temperature and current. I have used express signal to create arbitrary signals. I have little knowledge in programming in LabVIEW. 

The idea is to turn of the generator of wind turbine if it exceeds the tip speed ratio which is given as setpoint in PID controller. Can anyone give an idea of how to do that. Also about how to find the necessary gain values of PID controller.

In that case, I recommend to start with the learning resources listed at the top of the forum. (I assume that you already have deep knowledge of control algorithms and it is just the programming that is holding you back.)
