Windows 7 compatibility with labview 2011

I installed Labview 2011 32 bit student version on a windows 7 OS machine. After rebooting the machine as part of the installation process, The windows event log service stop working and showed error 1747 and system event notification service as well. As a result of that another services stop working and I've lost internet connectivity. I have installed twice lv 2011 to corroborate that lv installation is the cause of the issue. After uninstalling lv 2011 everything went back to normal. Any help is very appreciated.

Thanks

Well, that's certainly peculiar. You mentioned 32-bit LabVIEW. Is the OS also 32-bit? Which specific variant of Windows 7? Home, Premium, Platinum/Gold/Adamantium? Error 1747 is an authentication error. Did you install LabVIEW as a user who has administrative rights? You may have other service conflicting. I would suggest starting Windows with only Microsoft services running (you can use msconfig to do this), and install LabVIEW under that condition.

Thank you for your reply, The OS is 64 bits windows 7 home edition. Yes, I installed labview as administrator. It should not be a issue running a 32 bit application in a 64 bit environment Correct? I actually ran lv in my machine even though those services are not running, and  apparently Lv runs well. I will try your suggestion, is there any thing else you can think of please let me know

Thanks

This seem like the most reasonable place to put this question I originally posted in the multisim forum:

Has anyone solved the Windows 7 compatibility riddle?

This http://www.ni.com/labview/os-support/

leads me to believe that I can install Win 7 64bit and everything from 2010 SP1 on up will work per this comment Full Support (includes all LabVIEW modules and toolkits as well as NI drivers)

However, this link http://www.ni.com/white-paper/10383/en

leads me to believe things aren't supported for 64 bit.

Does the previous comment simply mean that a 64 bit install of Win 7 will run 32 bit versions of the software that isn't fully 64 bit enabled using whatever emulation layer Win 7 has native?

We are currently running LV 2011 and TestStand 2010 SP1 on Win XP and I'm trying to decide if for some upgraded main PC hardware we it's worth to go Win 7 64bit and more than 4GB of memory.  Have folks run into any real problems with running the later versions of LabVIEW and Test Stand on Win7x64?

Btw, regarding the contents of this thread, I had similar issues with 2011 that seemed to be related to the ni update service trying to get updates when the LV loads.  It was hosing my internet connection until I disabled the check on startup.

According to the white paper you linked to, most of the software and toolkits listed will run just fine in a 64-bit version of Windows. For up-to-date information on the ones that are listed as not supported, you can view the readme file for that specific piece of software.
