Have you tried looking at the other drivers? Do you have the programming manual for the instrument? What does it say as far as what you need to do? As Ravens Fan indicated, do you need to send a command to query for information, or does the device continously send out data on the serial port. Did you try HyperTerminal (if you're on Windows)?

I dont think by adding delay ypu can do this. You can increase the timeout if required.

Thanks to all.

Using the Portmon software I was able to see what command the Digivion uses to inittialize the reading, and now I am alble to read it using labview.
