call library function node

I am getting a Generic Error #42 when making a call to Call Library Function Node.  What in Heaven's name is a Generic Error?  I don't even know where to start debugging.

Can you share your LabVIEW code, along with the header file (.h) for the DLL you're trying to call, and any relevant documentation for that function?

I'll get that up here in a bit, but can someone give me a clue as to what a Generic Error is, and what context it might have for a .dll call?  The frustrating thing is this code all worked, then my hard drive died an ugly death, and these problems all started when I re-installed LabView.  It almost seems like there is a service that I need to  turn back on to get a dll to function, but I'm really just taking a wild stab.
