creating a new project wizard

Solved!

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to create a custom project wizard and put it on the "Getting Started" window with the other project wizards.

Here's my 2 pence on what I think it is that you're after...

I haven't ever come into contact with anyone who has undertaken such a task before.

To create your own project wizard will be a difficult process. Almost everything you see in LabVIEW, like the Examples Finder and the Project Wizard, are all VIs written in LabVIEW.

You could thus write your own VI that has the same functionality but obviously you have the control over customisation. If you have a LabVIEW suite that allows you to create executables then you could perhaps launch the "custom project wizard" as an executable, which in turn would launch LabVIEW after the selections have been made.

As mentioned before, a task that has perhaps never been undertaken by the community, and one which would require a vast knowledge of LabVIEW.

Can you specify in more detail what you want to achieve. Maybe some GUI mock-ups with a graphic editor.

While it is technical possible, it might be not available to the public. Some functinalities are still kept private to NI, other options are available to alliance partners. This is especially the case for the project explorer.

Also there are several undocumented 'hacks' known in the LAVA community.

Also if you really want to target this issue, check (and join) the LV API community. There might be some additional (special topic related) support by NI provided by this group:

Thanks.

I guess I'll just use the copy and paste functions of my file browser, and customize manually.
