Hi all,
For a collage project I ‘am going to use Labview to control the level/temperature of water in an educational rig. I will be using an ABB PID controller with which I will be using Labview to communicate with and alter set points.
I am hoeing to use a HMI also which will data log and trend and also update the Labview set points.
I have a few questions,
Would it be possible to use an Android tablet as my HMI? I am aware of data dashboard but would this be a suitable alterative to a HMI?
Can you use controls as well as indicators for the android version of data dash board?
Also any suggestions on how best to proceed with this project would be greatly received.
Note. I am fairly new to Labview I know the basics but not much else.
Thanks,
Bradss

Hi Bradss,
Data Dashboard for Android does not currently support controls. You can view your data but not interact with it. Data Dashboard 2 for Android was announced at NIWeek this year, and it will support controls when it is released. In the meantime, if you have an iPad, you can use Data Dashboard for iOS to create your HMI. Any data logging or trend analysis would have to be done in LabVIEW, but you can view your data and interact with shared variabled and web services using Data Dashboard.
Cheers,
Brandon V.
