Hello pri2686, Ravens Fan and I both gave you a free pass on the initial thread hijacking (I was asleep at the swtich and he let it slide this time).  The first thing you should do is post this question in a new thread.  It's both good form and good practice for you.  It is an easy question and I am sure that you'll have no trouble getting help.  Be sure to mark a solution, a very good way to ensure attention to your posts.

This thread is marked as solved so many people will ignore it. Please post in a new thread.

I have no idea how your string from the instrument looks like, and I don't have your hardware, but whatever you are doing to it looks very convoluted. Can you please start a new thread in the LabVIEW forum and modify your VI as follows.

  1. place an indicator at the string output of "read.vi"
  2. run the VI so the indicator contains typical data.
  3. disconnect the wire going to the new indicator.
  4. Right-click the terminal of the new indicator and select "change to constant".
  5. Save the VI under a new name and attach it in the new thread.
