keithley 2701: pb with tcpip

Hello,

My Keithley 2701E DMM isn't detected on Lan by MAX, neither by "find ressource.vi" !

It is accessible via a Windows tcpip ping, and via the Keithley remote web page.

It is also ok with Labview vi if I forced the Visa command with the @tcpip of the Keithley.

Why it is not detected by MAX (if I do "add ressource" in tcpip) and not detected by "find ressource.vi"?

thank

Franck

I'm only up to MAX 4.3 but on mine I have a "Remote Systems" where I have to right click and "Create New" to add an external resource.

Hello,

I have also to create a new ressource, but impossible to create one for the Keithley 2701, which @ip is not recognized!

I have a Agilent 34980A unit which is correctled detected when a create a new ressource in MAX.

A difference between Agilent and Keithley?

Thanks

Hi,

What's your LV and MAX version ? MAX searches automatically the default port, so you can't select which port MAX will search. So you should force MAX to search the port you want to select as explain in this KB.

Hope this helps.

In MAX under Devices & Interfaces, right click to Create a new resource.

Select "Manual Untry of LAN Instrument and Press NEXT

Enter the IP address of your meter.  Enter "1394" for the Port Number.

Check to see if it works using the Visa Test Panel.

thank you for all the responses,

now I can managed to create a new ressource in MAX (with manual entry of @tcp and port 1394). This resolves part of my problem. But why Keithley Lan instrument isn't automatically detected on the lan? I would like to use "ressource finder" vi which send back a Visa control with the right tcpip adress (no need to know the tcpip adress). It works fine with a Agilent 34980! What the difference between Keithley and Agilent?

I'm glad you got it working...I found that information somewhere when I had to set up mine.

I can't answer why Labview doesn't find it....(it doesn't find a Tek TDS scope, either)...maybe one of the NI guys can shed some light on that.

I'm just guessing but maybe you have included IVI drivers for Agilent 34980 but none for Tek scope or Keithley?
