On the development PC are you running LV or an executable? If you are running the development code you should try running an the executable on the development PC, if you get the same error it may be caused by a file/picture not found because the relative path is different. Also check that you have the permission to save a file in the target directory.

stevensung: if this was the problem, wouldn't I get the error at the very first time I try to access Word? The error occurs after I have already performed a lot of Word operations, afterwards the (incomplete report is saved to a file, so the Labview - Office connection works basically, but then suddenly something goes wrong.

ben64: The PC which has this problem (which has only the LV runtime installed, not the development environment) is at another location and not easily accessible, so I also set up a test PC which contains only the LV runtime. On this test PC the executable works correctly.

I also want to mention that a previous version of my application did not have this problem, only after I made an update which had nothing to do with the report generation the problem occurred. The previous version still runs without problems.
