setting the language in my profile has no effect

I set the language in my profile to "English", but many webpages from NI are shown to me in German. 

How can I set the language to English ?

Doesn't work for me.  On my Mac, Safari is fine, but Firefox is in Italian; even though at the bottom of the screen it shows: 

And clicking on that to try to force it do English doesn't work.  It's just permanently stuck in Italian.
