LabVIEW 2010's Report Generation Toolkit uses the (relatively-new) Report Object model -- the functions that support it are much easier to use, and will probably make the task you are trying to solve almost trivial.  In particular, opening and saving/closing Excel Workbooks is extremely simple.  All of the questions that you keep asking just "go away".  Please give it a try ...

great. i ordered it. but it will take 2-3 weeks for it to come. in the mean time. i want to play with what chembo provided. i think i can get it to work.
