Does CVI 7.1works for Win95/Win98?

Hello,

I am using CVI 7.0 and would like to use CVI 7.1.
Are LabWindows/CVI 7.1 and its runtime-rngine still compatible/usable with Windows95 or 98?

Hello Rac,

Officially, the minimum system requirements for CVI 7.1 are:

To run LabWindows/CVI 7.1, you must have the following items:

  • Personal computer using a Pentium 600 or higher microprocessor
  • Windows 2000/NT SP6/XP
  • 800 × 600 resolution (or higher) video adapter
  • Minimum of 128 MB of RAM, 256 MB recommended
  • 150 MB free hard disk space
  • Microsoft-compatible mouse
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, typical installation

CVI 7.1 might work on Window 98 machines since WIndows XP is based on the same technology, but this is not officially supported.  So what you can do is try out the trial version of CVI 7.1 to see if your applications behave as expected.

Thanks.

Thanks Wendy,

I use Win2000 for developping my application, but I can't take the risk that things goes wrong with it when using Win98, as this application is used for customers and I can't test all the Win98 variants existing.

Are there known problems with Windows 98 and LabWindows/CVI 7.1 because you don't support it?

Hello Rac,

Unfortunately, there's no documentation on the issues you might run into when using CVI 7.1 on a Window 98 machine because the environment wasn't fully tested on that operating system.  The decision to drop Window 98 as an officially supported OS was made for various reasons including the fact that Microsoft initially decided to also drop support of Window 98 as a legacy OS.

Thanks.
