WinXP SDK

Anybody know when we can get a Win32 SDK that covers XP?  Vista?

Win2K is starting to show its age - IT vendors such as CSC are starting to deprecate it in favor of XP and Vista.

I realize that I can look up the WInXP SDK on the Web, but it's nicer to have the SDK integrated into the IDE and I don't always have web access.

i'm afraid you will have to download it from microsoft.

somewhere here for the web install of Windows Server 2003. you can also download an ISO or the whole archive.
and here is the web install for the Vista SDK.

i don't know if CVI 8.5 comes with an updated SDK, but i think it would be great since, as you noted, windows 2000 is getting quite old and outdated. also, the html help (.chm) file of the windows SDK distributed with CVI severely lacks the "content" tab as well as a good index and search feature. note that those features exists in the SDK linked above.

CVI 8.5 still uses the Win2K SDK.

I thought at some point NI indicated they were fixing up an XP SDK for inclusion with CVI.  What's nice about the version NI distributes is that the unneeded stuff is pruned out so you don't have to wade through lots of irrelevant links in search results.

well, having used lots and lots of windows API, i can say there is no unneeded stuff in the platform SDK (contrary to the MSDN, which is full of junk).

As menchar pointed out, CVI 8.5 still includes the Win2K SDK.

NI is currently in negotiations with Microsoft with the goal of upgrading to a newer version of the SDK in the next major CVI release.

Yes, it's free to download by end-users. It doesn't mean that it's freely customizable and distributable by 3rd party applications, such as CVI.
