hidden splitter in cvi ide

Sometimes it happens that CVI IDE acts as if there were a hidden splitter in the project tree; see this screenshot:

Highlited in red it the 'hidden splitter' as it appears when I drag it with the mouse. I noticed it because when I try to open the second source file in that project the cursor changes to 'region-sizing cursor' (I don't know how to call it: it's two short horizontal lines with up and down arrows; like the one you have when you hover over a sizable region in a window, like when dimensioning the Library tree/Attribute browser window).

I suppose this is somewhat related exactly to the Attribute browser, since in my projects this area is not shown by default so its dimensioning bar may be lost somewere in the project tree area. That 'splitter' actually does nothing even when operated.

If I view and hide again the attribute browser the ghost splitter disappears, but it reappears again when I close and reopen CVI. If I drag it up to the toolbar area I am not able to have the cursor change again so that I can drag the splitter. Nevertheless the next time I open CVI the ghost splitter is still there in the same exact point on the second source file.

My configuration is CVI 2009 SP1 - Version 9.1.1 (450) running on a XP PRO SP2 box.

Hello Roberto -

Thanks for reporting this.  I was able to reproduce what you're seeing and have filed bug report 301766.  However, this does seem to be already fixed in CVI 2010 as a result of moving the attribute browser to the right side of the window.

thanks for paying attention to this. So you are confirming my hypothesis of a connection between that gost and the attribute browser: I normally hide that resource as it requires lots of space to be used and I prefere to give the maximum space to editors (besides it I am accostumed to go the older way without the browser  ), but if it clears things up I can show it again.

Eventually I will install cvi2010, but I need to keep older versions running in case I need to modify some application already deployed to customers.

Just out of curiosity, what determines the order in which files are listed in the project tree? in some project of mine they are listed as shown in the picture (i.e. UIT forst) but in some other I have source files first and I couldn't find a reason for it.

Yeah, I think the only way to prevent the ghost splitter from showing is to display the Attribute Browser - I'm sorry for this inconvenience.

The people who would definitively know the answer to your project question are OOO for a couple days, but the order appears to be first based on which file type was originally added to the project first (ie if you add a source file to your project file first, it will show at the top.  If you add a UIR to your project first, it will be UIR files).  Once the configuration has been set, it is stored in the project file under the [Folders] tag.  You can change the order by re-ordering the entries under the [Folders] tag.
