OCR for scrolling text

I was trying out for OCR over a fixed ROI, however, there are certain cases where the text scrolls from right to left for some unkown time. For scrolling text, one of the idea was grabbing multiple images after certain wait time, and then do string processing based on the read strings from multiple images.

Are there any better ideas to run OCR over a fixed ROI for scrolling text?

Sorry, I do not have a better idea. 

Your approach is reasonable as it even works when strings are getting longer and do not entirely fit on the display.
