Hi,
I am trying to develop an application for hands gestures recognition, using a simple USB webcam.
I'm trying to use the IMAQ various libraries with no success...
Has anyone tried doing something like this before?
thanks,
Yakir.

Hello,
take a look at this link:
http://www.intorobotics.com/9-opencv-tutorials-hand-gesture-detection-recognition/
It is based on OpenCV, but you can easily integrate OpenCV functionalities into Labview (for example to extract the convexity defects).
Best regards,
K

Hi,
After a quick search I found this project that can give you an idea on where to start (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lz7O5p7ntc0). I found the full project description here: http://robinhsieh.com/?p=334
The last project was made using the vision development module but there is a different approach using the Kinesthesia Toolkit for Microsoft Kinect, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kRcKMer2dk
I hope this can give you a starting point.
Good luck

Hi Annelise,
You would be best off creating a new post as this thread is specific to gesture recognition. This will give better visibility to your question and keep each thread limited to one technical question. You can reference our NI Discussion Forum User Guidelines for general best practices on the forum. When you create a new post including relevant information such as the hardware and software that you are using is important to get the help necessary.

for this propose you have to have deep information of morphological function and then matching function so before to start to do this project start to study a bit on morphology function and how to use them for your project
